In our 20 years of operation, Active OHS has developed expertise in managing psychological injuries. Our approach reflects the guidelines for the management of work-related stress produced by the South Australian Branch of the AMA in conjunction with Workcover South Australia in 1993.
The guidelines suggested that general practitioners not consider time off as ‘necessary or usual for psychological injuries’. In fact, the guidelines recommended that work-related stress claims be reviewed if patients have not returned to partial employment within 14 days.
Consequently, Active OHS proposes to our customers using provisional liability to involve us to:
- Conduct a modified Initial Assessment with a focus on psychosocial factors that include the injured worker's perception of (the individual) Yellow Flags like a conflict with the supervisor and (organisational) Blue Flags such as lack of control and management style;
- Facilitate a case conference involving the injured worker, a family representative, the nominated treating doctor and employer;
- Identify suitable duties and determine an appropriate return to work regime and time frame;
- Develop an agreed Action Plan within 5 working days from referral.
- Ideally, referrals are made within 10 working days of the claim being submitted.
